6 Ways to Pass Time on an Airport Layover
Long stopovers. They don’t have to be an experience that you dread before your next flight.
To help make your next stopover as smooth and enjoyable as possible, here’s a few helpful hints to enhance your travel experience, and make the most of your time between flights.
1. Purchase a single use Lounge pass
You don’t have to have permanent lounge access to enjoy the perks. Treat yourself on your next layover with a single entry Lounge pass to our network of domestic lounges. Whether you are travelling alone or with family or friends, you can enjoy barista made coffee, buffet dining, a shower to freshen up, WiFi access and much more. Once your flight is called, you can exit the lounge feeling relaxed and refreshed for the next leg of your journey. Single entry Lounge passes are available at all Virgin Australia Domestic Lounge locations for $65. Further information is available here.
2. Enjoy a meal and maybe a nap while you wait
If you’ve got a longer stopover but don’t want to head in town, stay local. While there’s plenty of food and drinks to choose from in most terminals, consider venturing to a restaurant near the airport, such as Mobius Bar and Grill in the Pullman at Sydney Airport. For those staying overnight, it’s the perfect place to catch up on sleep, get some work done and hit the gym before you continue on your travel journey – plus you won’t have to travel far to return to the airport. Just remember to save some space for your on board snacks and drinks, and set the alarm if you’ve splashed out on a room!
3. Exercise and get moving
Many would agree that there’s no better feeling than walking around after sitting on an aircraft for a few – or many – hours. Take some time to wander around the airport and stretch your legs. There’s always plenty going on around you throughout the terminals. This is especially useful in larger airports, where there are plenty of shops and eateries to peruse. If you find yourself in Perth or Brisbane, the recent Virgin Australia terminal improvements are worth having a look at, plus you’ll burn a few calories while you’re at it!
4. Head into town
Depending on the airport you’re at and the time you have between flights, the option to pop into the city for a brief visit is often appealing. These Australian airports offer easy commutes to the city centre are below:

6. Power up during down time
