Daydream Island Resort & Spa
Daydream Island Resort and Spa has announced that in the wake of substantial damage caused by recent Tropical Cyclone Debbie that the Resort would bring forward its planned refurbishment for 2018. The resort will now stay closed ahead of a continuing clean-up and the beginning of works later in 2017 and it is anticipated that the newly refurbished Daydream Island Resort & Spa will be opening for guests in mid-2018
There’s no other island quite like Daydream, on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. With a fringing reef a mere flipper’s kick from the beach and a Living Reef on the island itself, it’s an incredible place to not only learn about one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, but to experience it firsthand.
The free form Living Reef that courses through the resort is one of the world’s largest outdoor aquariums, home to more than 140 species of marine fish, 82 species of coral and 15 species of invertebrates such as starfish, sea cucumbers and crabs.
Step off the beach at Lovers’ Cove and you’ll be greeted by a kaleidoscopic, with a Great Barrier Reef welcoming party of parrot fish, inviting you into their world.
Getting to Daydream Island is simple, with flights via the Great Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) or Whitsunday Coast Airport on the mainland at Proserpine.

The Whitsundays are serviced by two domestic airports, Great Barrier Reef Airport on Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Coast Airport on the mainland at Proserpine.
From Great Barrier Reef Airport a transfer service will meet flights for a comfortable 30 minute catamaran cruise to Daydream Island, departing from the jetty located directly at the airport.
From Whitsunday Coast Airport you can book a streamlined transfer with a 30 minute coach connection directly from the airport to Port of Airlie in Airlie Beach, where a connecting ferry transfers guests to Daydream Island in 30 minutes. Transfer options are available to be booked with your Virgin Australia Holidays package.
