Great Ocean Road
From Torquay, the surf capital of Australia to the white sand and clear waters of Apollo Bay, the region is a scenic delight. This iconic stretch of road has long been considered one of the world’s most spectacular drives and follows Victoria’s rugged south-west coast, providing stunning views of raging beaches, beautiful waterfalls, shipwreck sites and magnificent lighthouses.
The region is also a nature lover’s paradise and the best way to discover it is on foot. The Great Ocean Walk, a 104km dedicated coastal walking trail, brings you closer than ever to some of the country’s most pristine and remote beaches and stretches from Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead.
Stroll on a secluded beach, admire the views from high in the rainforest canopy at the Otway Fly treetop walk, cast a fishing line or follow a walking trail to a majestic waterfall. Further afield, spot some whales in Victoria’s southern right whale nursery in Warrnambool, take in the famous Twelve Apostles at Port Campbell or enjoy fresh local seafood in the fishing village, Port Fairy.
