VIRGIN AUSTRALIA UPDATE ON VANUATU SERVICES
28 January 2016
On Monday we stated we would continue to monitor the condition of the runway and would cease operations between Australia and Port Vila, Vanuatu if we were not convinced that the runway is suitable for ongoing operations.
After a further review on Wednesday 27 January, we will suspend services between Brisbane and Vanuatu until we have greater confidence that the runway will be maintained appropriately. We will operate a return service between Brisbane and Vanuatu on Saturday 30 January available to guests returning to their port of origin.
Customers who are booked to travel to or from Vanuatu will be provided with a number of options, such as a refund, change of destination or travel credit.
We will continue to work with authorities in Vanuatu and plan to recommence services between Brisbane and Vanuatu as soon as we are confident that appropriate measures are in place.
Vanuatu offers much more than watching the sunset by the pool with a colourful cocktail - not that there's anything wrong with that!
Vanuatu could be called the ‘paradox of the Pacific’. On one hand, you can be so relaxed you’ll be searching for a pulse – on the other, adrenalin could be pumping as you zipline through the trees over a spectacular canyon!
Vanuatu is an archipelago of 83 islands with a unique blend of intact tribal communities, resorts, beaches and geography ranging from accessible volcanoes to pristine underwater environments, offering unique and memorable experiences.
